Numbers and Letters For Light Bulbs

If you buy a bulb, you may see a different number and letters in the bulb. These numbers and letters have some significance. Codes such as A19, B5, and So on tells specific number codes to understand the types and size of the bulb. Let’s follow some of the common letters in the next sections.

We start with the letter representation of bulbs

01. A

The alphabet A stands for the eardrop shape of bulbs. The most popular bulbs of this category are A19.

Typically A letter stands for flower type bulbs. There are some numbers, such as A19, which represents the diameter of the base.

There are some other numbers such as A19 which mean the diameter is 2.4 inch. In some cases, they represent A60, which means A represents arbitrary, whereas 60 stands for 60 millimeters.

Usually, lettered bulbs emit lights from 360 degrees. That is why this bulb will emit light in every direction — another significant number 3000K, which represents the color tone.

This is a standard color tone for better use. Some of the quality lighting representation can suggest the shape of the lights and base types or socket configurations.

02. B

The bulb containing B letter stands for bullet types. This type of light represents different kinds of bulbs. B type lights are of two kinds blunt type and bulged type.

Sample code for a particular bulb is as follows-

F32 T8/ TL 741/ALTO

Here F represents Fluorescent, whereas 32 means 32 watts. T8 means Tubelights with a socket of a specific diameter.

TL stands for tube light, whereas 741 signifies two things CRI 75 and color tone 4100. The last part Alto stands for product line indicator.

These lighting letters and numbers are quite important before purchasing.

You need to understand the type of lights explicitly, whereas the quality lighting will increase the performance to a great deal.

The lighting quality and different aspects can be thought out after the quality outcome.

The recent quality output will increase the performance to a certain degree. Until recently, the quality lighting with superior numbers and letters is quite evident in the packages.

There is some quality difference between A19 and A21 bulbs where A19 bulbs produce 100 watts, and A21 also provides LED lights.

For the same 100 watts, incandescent and 100 Watt LED will have a sharp contrast between the lights.

A19 typically stands for incandescent, whereas A21 is used for LED lights.

But some manufacturer makes LED lights with A19 settings. So endless numbers and letters do not guarantee the actual conditions.
